As the City of Burlington’s Social Media and Digital Specialist, I have:

  • Grown the City’s social media audience from 27k to 88k from 2017 to 2023 – with the audience growing by 10% year-over-year (2024)

  • Generated over 300k engagements each year

  • Generated over 7 million impressions each year

  • Consistently ranked as the number one municipality on social media in the region

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Leading Corporate Communication and Engagement initiatives across social media

  • Develop social media and video strategy and policy across the organization

  • Create timely and relevant content by identifying trends and topics to appeal to and engage with a broad audience

  • Shift tone based on feedback and mitigated risk while managing the City’s reputation online

  • Provide leadership and council with social media content, production, and strategy

  • Lead for the City’s external and internal video projects, including managing relationships with vendors, as well as developing scripts and storyboards

  • Execute digital strategy with internal/external stakeholders, including federal, provincial, and regional levels for announcements and events

  • Live coverage of City events across digital platforms

  • Provide and present social media analytical reports

  • Member of the City and Region’s Crisis Communications Team
